I found him completely on accident while questing, and he dropped two really nice greens. Easy solo as a pally, he does a poison bolt thing and shrinks you.

He is pretty tough for just a rare mob. He has a poison that shrinks you and lowers your strength and stamina by 5. He also has an elixir he uses on himself that makes him twice as large, and he regains almost his full HP. He shoots a pretty nasty poison bolt too.

He seems to have a fast respawn rate. Even if you're not doing the quest (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9176), it's a good idea to check in the ziggurats and see if he's spawned. I was lucky to kill him in the one ziggurat then kill him again in the next one as he spawned immediately after.

Great place to get your first wand.

i was doing the quest, killed me first time, then i killed him, i was like 16 or 17 priest att, then i went to other place for next orb, he there agian, i got the hammer on solo, then 2nd time i got to kill i was partied, and wand droped :)

Level 18 rogue, was 17 when doing the Ziggurats quest.

Annoying mob. Can't ignore him because he pats inside the ziggurat and is pretty hard to kill if you can't heal yourself. Be prepared to use pots, gouge -> bandage, and ALWAYS try to gouge him before he uses that damn elixir of his.

If you can keep him from healing and heal when you can, he goes down fairly easy.

There are 4 Ziggurats in which he can spawn. The 2 northern ones around (34,48) and (40,49), and the 2 souther Ziggurats inside of Deatholme at (30,87) and (35,87).

He has a 2 hour spawn time.

When he spawns, he will spawn in 2 adjacent Zigguarats at the same time. Either the 2 northern ones, or the 2 southern ones. I have one time seen him spawn in all 4 Ziggurats at once.

I also soloed him twice while doing the Zigg quest. I was pretty proud of myself being able to do that with my 15 tauren shaman, especially because there had been an add the 2nd time. His potions are treated the same as spells as far as interruption goes, so just earth shock him down. Several classes also get an edge up here for having a poison removal at their disposal (unfortunately for me, i did not).

If you get "of the sun" on the wand it might be one of the best wands in lower levels since you get both int and spell dmg while most other wands only do damage.

He will drop an item based on your class (Or I've come to conclude).

When killed by a paladin he dropped the mace, when killed by a mage it was the wand, and finally with a hunter he dropped the axe.

Also he hits like a truck, has a nasty debuff, and will heal to about 3/4 health. All of this can be read about in the above comments.

Pft, "rare". I'm doing the quest now on a lowbie druid, and he's spawned on me mid-fight both times and killed me. If he's actually rare this is an irritating inconvenience, but I don't think I've been to a zigg recently and not seen him.

This guy is quite unique for his appearance, his jaw is bleeding and he's a bit larger than your average undead with the forsaken model. He's also a real pain in the ass when doing the Ziggarut quests.

Strange thingy. As a lvl 17 pally i did the quest on which you need to go to the bleeding and the howling siggurat. I got him at both points. Dropped 2 greens the first time and only the cleaver onthe next one.

true enough, hes an enormous pain in the ass when doing the zig quest. best thing to do is assume hell be inside ready to ruin your fun. stand in the entrance to the ziggurat and hit tab a few times. youll be able to target all four darkmages and the good doctor, should he be in. then just pull him when he pats around to the doorway.

hell shrink you and shoot poison crap at you, but what you need to be aware of is that he has health pots and isnt shy about using them. hes not a hard mob or anything, just heir on the side of caution and things will go much cleaner.

This mob can drop a wand with:
1 Stamina
1 Intellect
1 Spell Damage and Healing.

Arguably the best Twink caster wand in the game for 19/29.

omg ive been farming this guy for ages. i dont know abotu him being in every zig i check its like hes never there?

EDIT: like 2min after i posted this he spawned and dropped the wand of the sun :D

i guess hes pretty much a cake walk to those who are wizards (mage, priest, warlock), cos when he did that shrink poison, i still get to kill him at lvl 20. just mind flay and mind blast him up. and hes done for.
approached him 2 times, solo-ed him once (another from group), and got shrank 2 times XDD
from there when running, i had that Benny Hill music coming out of my head. lol

Soloed him easly as a 17 pala. When he tried to poison me i just casted purify.

I hate him, whenever I go into the place to do the quest he kills me.

For some reason I can never click arcane torrent fast enough to stop his elixir, and he always end up killing me.

The worst part as a mage is that none of my spells I need to cast can hit him in time, because of the door.

What I do is target him, and wait until frostbolt is in range, and start casting flamestrike so he runs into it.

I wish I would have had a search team out combing the ziggurats... Ran around and around but finally tracked him down. Isn't he supposed to have a high respawn rate? Two hours?

It's easier to find him by running around on your mount spamming a macro: /targetexact Dr. Whitherlimb

Dr. Whitherlimb, spawns after 2 hours of death in either the 2 north ziggurats or 2 south ziggurats.
Level 18 elite, 600 odd HP, not sure of damage as I one hit him on my DK =P
The 3 weapons are the best to have at level 13 for the following classes...
The Ghoul Hammer - Paladins, Druids, Shamans.
The Cleaver - Same as above
The Banshee Rod - Mages, Warlocks, Priests.

Anyone whos ever tried to farm Fenissa the Assasin, will tell you she spawns quickly, or can have multiples up at once. I think Dr. Whitherlimb is like her. Each spawn place has its own timer, and there can be multiples up at once. also since it was a relatively short spawn time, it can seem like it is a very fast spawn rate. but more likely you are just running into the multiples.

This is a pretty fun surprise unless you're around his level. As others have said, paired with the other mobs in the Zigs Im sure he's a pain in the ass. Ill have to remember to stop by and try my strength on a level appropriate toon next time I make an alt, so he will actually be a challenge.

I encountered this guy as a level 20 doing some farming and was pleasantly surprised by his debuff. Pretty fun stuff. He afflicts you with Withering Poison that reduces your strength and stamina by 5 for ten minutes. It also shrinks you! :)

Running around as the same size as my companion pet was pretty funny. To compensate for your reduced size, your running speed is increased.. You become a little tiny version of yourself on steroids.

Tip: Now's the time to take some fun screenshots! ;)

**EDIT: Odd glitch with the debuff he inflicts on you. Just for giggles I would go by and get the debuff to be tiny while running the flag in Warsong Gulch...well.... YOU CANNOT CAP THE FLAG WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE DEBUFF! I stood, quite confused on the cap for a whole 20 seconds, enough time for a rouge of the opposing team to come resnatch our flag while I stood there frozen in bewilderment. I eventually had to pass the flag to a teammate for us to score. So...beware if you happen to find this guy while queing for BGs. Who knows what else it does. **

I just got the hammer on my level 6 twink druid. I only saw him at one ziggurat.

Edit to add: since then I have killed him a number of times. I have never seen him spawn at more than one ziggurat at the same time.
