Mirecrawler was bugged when I first encountered it. It was clinging to a wall and once I aggroed it, further attempts to attack it resulted in "Target not in the line of sight" messages.

Located at 55.20, 13.50, just East of Gate of the Queen in Nazjatar. He is clinging on to the back of the tall tower there. You can go to the cliff's edge and aggro him and he'll pull over.

Reputation with the Unshackled increased by 50 if you can kill this before it evades you. I managed to burst it down in 2 seconds, couldn't loot it, but gained rep for killing it.

Found him on a cave wall in Chitterspine Grotto (around 38, 62) but he was bugged and evaded after a few seconds of combat. After standing around for awhile to see if he might move, he despawned and a regular snail mob took his place. He has multiple spawn points so if one spot is bugged, hopefully you'll come across him elsewhere!

Edit: Found him again at (57, 35) in Maedin's Challenge on a wall. Bugged again, he falls into a spot that does not seem to have proper collision on it so even when I stand there, I can see through the world. I did manage to get into a place where I could purely auto-attack him down, but with no self-heals, had to back out before he killed me (and he then reset).

Found at 60.14, 33.69. In cave called Mardiva's Laboratory.
This little guy can be quite annoying. If you see him stuck up on the tower, you can run up onto the left side near him and get on that ledge, you can attack him. Not sure about looting since a DK came by and pulled him down.

55 rep (if you're human) with the Ankoan once killed. Not a guaranteed pet drop since I got grey items.

For anyone interested, I was able to jump up the entire column, which felt very much like wall jumping in Ironforge.

However, despite me standing right next to him on a pixel ledge, I was unable to kill him, as he constantly evaded after the first hit.
Therefore, I believe that this is a bug, and not a jumping game.

Each time he evaded, I moved forward a pixel at a time, trying each time until I just fell off.

Found in a cave near 27,40.

On the wall off the ground in the back of the cave. Evade bugged and he wouldn't come down and I couldn't find a place to snap him to me.

Found in Deepsea Slave Pens 49:53 It was attached on the ceiling and I knocked it down. I had a chance to fight and kill it. Was awarded 50 Rep with Waveblade Ankoan. Looting it showed me a grey item and azerite power but despawned before I could pick up.

Found it at 59,52 inside a cave at the Chitterspine Grotto. Like others reported in different locations, it bugged when attacked; in this case it fell through the wall and was only attackable with auto attacks, shortly before evading and resetting to it's original spot. Thunderstorm knock-back didn't work.

What did work was stunning it with a capacitor totem (maybe other stuns would have worked as well). It prevented it from moving from it's initial position on the wall, and let me kill it.

managed to kill him as a mage by... autoattacking with a staff.
I have coastal surge enchant and impassive visage and Essence heal so i somehow managed to not die xDD
And yes I could loot him.

And no, no other attack could hit him :S

I found this guy in a cave in Zanj'ir Terrace and had no problem dropping him off the ceiling and promptly executing him as a hunter. The thing is after he died I tried to loot him. Well, I waan't able to because he promptly was sharded away loot and all exactly after I killed him. I had to go back and watch the recording to see what happened and I definitely got him to 0 health and saw his name go white and his body sparkled it seemed right until I tried to loot it. Anyways this phasing issue is out of control when it is affecting us getting loot. If I kill a rare, especially in this patch where it seems to take forever to get one. I put a lot of my hard earned time and money into doing it so Blizzard really needs to make sure things like this don't happen.

I found it on the wall in Brinestone Cove, around 37, 13. I could target it but couldn't hit it with any ranged abilities like moonfire. I gave up, ran around, came across a Brinestone Shard so mined it. I got a Violet Brinestone Shard out of it and thought why not? Went back, targeted it, used the item and it worked! Sucker fell off the wall and it didn't evade in the 39 second fight.

Wowhead has Violet Brinestone Shard listed as a quest item but I wasn't on a quest and the item had that name. It allowed me to cast Violet Brinestone.

He keeps despawning when I enter the cave. Amethyst Spireshell also keeps despawning.

Found him clinging to the ceiling in Mindshackle's cave during the pet battle world quest (36.65, 8.6). I couldn't target it with a ranged attack so I used the Gnomish Gravity Well directly under it get close enough to melee it. After I hit it with one melee attack, it fell to the ground and I was able to kill and loot a couple gray items.

If you encounter this mob and are unable to use abilities on it or get in melee range, try using the Foxicopter Controller toy which can fly and perform melee attacks. This worked for me when most other solutions here did not :)

Found him in side of Mardivas's Laboratory, cave entrance(60, 32). I ran in there after about 15 minutes looking at mini map and his star disappeared when I entered so I ran out until his star appeared again and ran in to the very beginning and then used the Foxicopter Controller toy like someone else mentioned after using hunter ability, Eagle Eye to target. I hit him once and he fell from the ceiling immediately. Unfortunately, I thought it was safe now and ran in and he disappeared, so make sure to hit him without moving.

I had seen mirecrawler on my minimap while killing time near chitterspine cave and I thought I might just get a little extra reputation. Much to my dismay I couldn't for the life of me figure out where he was, up down, in, out I ran looking for this little bigger. I saw him clinging to a pillar inside the cave on the backside and used my ranged he came down no problem, maybe since I was underwater and I was able to deathgrip him? Not sure if this helps but he wasn't bugging for me. Maybe you need aggro first?

Found him at 28.57, 28.23 in Bloodfin Village hanging on the wooden roof structure leading into the cave. After numerous attempts to engage him with Heroic Throw & Thunder Clap with no success I decided to try from above. Just to the right of the entrance to this cave you have a small Murloc hovel that has a ramp leading up to it starting at 29, 29. Once you get to the top of the ramp mount up and jump across to the angled rock, and you'll be able to get on top of the wooden roof structure outside the cave. Once there I used Thunder Clap again and this time it engaged, appearing on the roof beside me. It de-spawned immediately on death so I could not loot it, but I did get credit for the kill and the 55 rep with Ankoans.
I'd suggest using whatever AOE spell you have once you are on top of it and hopefully it will engage for you too. Be nice to have the chance to loot it but for now just glad to get credit for the kill considering how often it's bugged :).

I found this one inside Mardiva's Laboratory. It is inside the cave, but whenever I get inside the cave I will be phased. I was not able to kill it or even target it. A shamy got inside and pulled it and still,, I was not be able to get to it because of phasing.

Edit: I had completed the laboratory weekly quest.

Okay since this information is missing here then I will add it.

The rares Mirecrawler and Amethyst Spireshell share spawn points with all the normal Muck and spireshell mobs around the zone. So to spawn these rares pick an area and kill all the mucks and spireshells you see and in no time will these 2 rares spawn.

I found one today that was in Mardiva's Lab. Everytime I went in, whether I had the weekly quest done or not, it would disappear, just like others had indicated.

What I did was stand in the doorway so that I can could still see and target mirecrawler ... in otherwords just a step from being inside and having it disappear. Because I was on my warlock, I used my Voidwalker and manually located as far inside as I could. I would then command the voidwalker to taunt the creature. It took some trial and error to get it right as standing too far left in the door (as looking in) the voidwalker would despawn for being too far from me. I found being as far right as I could in the door, the voidwalker managed to taunt the creature and it was matter to keep taunting and calling him back to the door. Managed to get mirecrawler right to the door and was able to kill him ... and lo and behold, got the pet he drops too.

I would imagine, hunters could perform a similar feat and possibly mages too.

Found him in a cave at /way 59.13, 26.26 he was bugged in the wall. I did /tar Mire which targetted him and i dropped a raid marker on him which allowed me to see his position. I was able to manoeuvre myself upwards and side to side up the cave wall into a position, where after casting Fan of Knives to aggro him my auto attacks then could reach him. I ran out of breath a couple of times working this out, but once I figured it out, I took him down with auto attacks in about a minute and a half with half a minute of breath remaining.

Found him on my Shaman after joining a random grp for Wekemara. Was in a cave directly opposite at 42.22 / 80.91 and was already on the ground (a lot of ppl have reported this rare to be on the wall or ceiling).
I couldn't attack it for some reason so I asked a mage nearby to AoE it. That didn't work so I activated my Earth Elemental as a last ditch attempt and that worked like a charm.

I found him out in the open, on the ground, around Shirakess Repository. Lucky for me I just ran into it. I didn't get the pet but I finished the achievement "I thought you said they'd be rare" So that's a step closer to the crab mount :)

My best advice is just running around Ashen Strand, the area to the west where all the hydras spawn (approximat coords 30.00 40.00. The three hydra matriarch spawns makes sort of a triangular area inbetween them, and it's full of slugs and crabs. Kill every slug you see, be it Sea Spireshells or Muck Creepers. Eventually Mirecrawler will spawn instead of one of the regular slugs.

Took me about 30 mins, first the other slug spawned, Amethyst Spireshell, and then some 20 mins later i got Mirecrawler.

The best place I found to farm this rare was in the murlock village where King Gakula spawns. If you head south from the king there are 4 caves that slugs can spawn in, just clear them all out, rinse and repeat. This is such a good place because at the same time you can kill snails on the rocks above you to spawn the Amethyst snail rare and shoo murlocs to summon the king. A 3 for 1 deal without having to bother with caves filled with chitterspines and the like.

Mirecrawler shares a spawn with Muck Creeper and Prismatic Slug. Just go around the Ashen Strand farming these slugs and he'll eventually spawn. Happy hunting!

You can add the Sea Spireshell and Prismatic Spireshell to your farming rotation. They're plentiful in this zone too and have a chance of spawning the rare Amethyst Spireshell
